How should I prepare my quilt for longarm quilting?

To ensure the best results, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Press your quilt top and backing to reduce wrinkles.
  2. Clip loose threads to prevent dark colors from shadowing through light fabrics
  3. Ensure your backing fabric is 4 inches larger on all sides than your quilt top. This extra space is necessary to attach your quilt to the longarm frame.
  4. Do not baste your quilt layers together — we'll handle that as part of the quilting process.

What batting should I use?

We're happy to quilt with your provided batting, or you can purchase quality batting from our shop. If you're unsure what type to use, we're happy to recommend the best option for your project.

How much does longarm quilting cost?

Our pricing is based on the size of your quilt and the chosen quilting design. Feel free to contact us for an estimate.

What's your turnaround time?

Our typical turnaround time is 3–4 weeks, but this may vary depending on our current queue. If you're working with a deadline, please let us know, and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Can I ship my quilt to you?

Yes! We gladly accept quilts by mail. Please download the form (link to form) and include it with your quilt. Return shipping (plus appropriate insurance) is the responsibility of the sender. We'll confirm the details with you before sending your quilt home.

How do I drop off my quilt in person?

Simply bring your quilt top, backing, and batting (if you're not purchasing it from us) to Needles & Bolts during our regular shop hours. We'll guide you through the design selection process and answer any questions you have.
