Sew a Mid-Century Mod Quiltmas Tree Skirt
What better way to celebrate the start of the holiday season than by making your decorations quilty? The Mod Tree Skirt by Corinne Sovey Design Studio is a great mid-century modern-inspired tree skirt. It finishes at 48” and is a fat quarter-friendly pattern. With bold geometric wedges, this pattern is a great way to show off your favorite holiday statement fabrics or create a bold design with solids.
In this class, you will create your backing, learn how to apply the binding to finish the tree skirt, make your templates, cut your top, spend time piecing the top, and develop a quilting plan. Since everyone works at a different pace, this class is designed to ensure that everyone is set up for success so they can complete what they do not finish in class at home.
This class is great for beginner quilters looking to practice their new skills and experienced sewists looking to add stylish flair to their holiday decor.
What you will learn how to do:

Make and apply double-fold bias tape

Freezer paper for creating the pattern templates

Cotton thread in a complementary color

1 yard of background fabric

5 cotton fat quarters (please note, you may need extra fabric if using directional fabrics)

2 yards of backing fabric

½ yard of fabric for binding or 2 packages of double-folded bias tape

| Skill Details: | You should be able to wind a bobbin, thread a sewing machine, and maintain a consistent seam allowance. Depending on your sewing pace, you may not finish in class. |

After decades spent acquiring the “perfect fabric” for myriad projects, she rediscovered her sewing machine during the pandemic and is finally putting those fabrics to use.
