Want the satisfaction of making a quilt top without a huge time commitment? This class kicks off our series of quick, approachable quilts using Villa Rosa Designs postcard patterns – projects designed to get you from fabric stack to finished top in just a few hours.

We’re starting the series with the Honor Quilt, a bold, graphic quilt that’s perfect for showing off those fabulous large-scale and hero prints you've been saving for just the right project. Along the way, you’ll practice accurate cutting, consistent quarter-inch seam allowance, adding borders, and creating beautiful mitered corners for a polished finish.

Tim will take you through the steps of sewing this beautiful quilt top. Depending on how quickly you work, you will leave with a nearly finished quilt top and all the knowledge you need to complete it at home.

This is a great skill-building class for newer quilters (the perfect next class if you’ve taken our Quilting 101 workshop) and an equally satisfying afternoon project for experienced sewists who just want to carve out time to make a quilt and enjoy the thrill of stash busting and a quick finish.

Pick your hero print in advance or come shop for the perfect large-scale print (think Tula Pink or Ruby Star Society), gather your coordinating fabrics, and come spend an afternoon turning them into a quilt top. Quick project. New skills. Serious “look what I made today!” energy.

You’ll learn:

• How to showcase hero prints, particularly large-scale and directional fabrics 

• How to cut and stitch larger pieces of fabric with precision

• Techniques for sewing a consistent ¼ inch seams

• How to add borders to a quilt top

• Create mitered corner quilt borders

Finished Project Size: 51” x 76”

Fabric Requirements:

• Large theme fabric - 1 yd

• Small theme and second border - 1 yd

• Small contrast and  first border - 1 yd

• Larger contrast and binding - 1 yd

• Last border - 1 yd

Other Supplies:

• Sew edges and/or Washi tape

• Wonder clips and/or pins

• Post-it notes, scrap paper, or painters tape to stay organized
