Learn to Sew Knits — No Serger Needed! Sew House Seven Toaster Sweater Workshop
Ready to dip your toes into the cozy world of knit sewing? The Sew House Seven Toaster Sweater is the perfect fall-to-winter project to build your confidence with stretchy fabrics — and you can make it entirely on your regular sewing machine!
In this workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of sewing knits without a serger: using the best needles and stitches, handling stretch seams, and finishing edges for a polished, professional look. You’ll work step by step through the Toaster Sweater pattern (choose from Version 1 or Version 2!) and leave class with a stylish, wearable layer you’ll reach for all winter long.
This is a generously cut sweater so fit is not the priority for this class. Come with an openness to learn - perfection is overrated!

- Tips for cutting and handling curly or slippery knits
- Techniques for clean hems, cuffs, and neckline finishes
- How to construct your entire garment without a serger

Bring your regular sewing machine — we’ll show you just how knit-friendly it can be!
Check to see that it has at least one of these stitch icons. If not, we’ll be happy to set you up on one of our machines. 
Supplies Needed
- Toaster Sweater pattern from Sew House Seven (Standard 00-20 or Curvy 16-34)
- Swedish tracing paper
- Wonder clips or pins
- Yardage of ore-washed knit fabric with at least 20% stretch appropriate to the size you are making
- Coordinating polyester thread
- Knit sewing machine needle
- Serrated scissors for cutting knits (strongly recommended)
- Twin needle for topstitching (Optional)
Come with your pattern pieces traced and cut out. We will cut fabric in class.
