Sundays In Stitches #2: The Philly Swing Dress

SUNDAYS IN STITCHES: A 9-DRESS WORKSHOP SERIES

Join our Weekly Dress Workshop Series – Sundays at Needles & Bolts!

This is registration for #2 out of 9 dresses: the Philly Swing Dress.
Looking for a basic introduction to a garment-making class? Join us for a one-day session where we will make this simple, super-flattering trapeze dress. This dress is cute on its own, looks great with leggings or under a sweater, and can also be a nice swimsuit coverup.  It is loose fitting around the bust with an A-line style cut that gives it great drape.  Best of all – it has pockets!

This is a size-inclusive class; if the measurements below are not appropriate for you, please still sign up. We have planned modifications in place.

In this class, you will learn how to read a garment pattern, insert in-seam pockets, and make and insert bias tape to finish your seams. You should have some experience using a sewing machine including winding a bobbin and threading the needle.

When you register for the class, please indicate what size garment you wish to make based on the chart below so we can prepare the pattern for you. For most folks, the dress will fall around the knee.  The finished length is approximately 42” from the shoulder to the bottom of the dress.

Size Chart

Fabric Requirements:
This pattern requires fabric that is 56" wide
- 2.75 yards for XS - XL | 3 yards for XXL and up
- If your measurements exceed the XXL size, bring 3 yards of fabric so we can modify the pattern with side panels.
Your fabric should be washed and dried before class.

You will also need polyester thread to match your fabric.
Pattern is included.
