Beyond the Lines: Free Motion Quilting Club
Join us for a year-long exploration of free-motion quilting techniques! Ready to take your quilting skills beyond the straight line? Join our Free-Motion Quilting Club, where we'll explore the art of free-motion quilting, one motif at a time. Using the book Beginner’s Guide to Free-Motion Quilting as our guide, we’ll dive into a different motif style each month, giving you the confidence to transform your quilts with creative, personalized designs. Perfect for beginners or anyone looking to sharpen their skills in a supportive, hands-on environment. Bring your machine, enthusiasm, and let’s get quilting!
What to Bring or Purchase:
- a spool of cotton thread
- 3-4 10”x10” basted quilt sandwiches (solid fabrics recommended to see your stitches clearly)
- the book Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting by Natalia Bonner
- Your sewing machine (or use one of ours)
- Free Motion foot
- Grippy gloves for quilting
Each month, we’ll explore new patterns and techniques, building your free-motion quilting confidence one stitch at a time. Whether you join us for a single class or the whole series, you’ll walk away with new skills and inspiration. Let’s get stitching!

| Skill Details: | This is a beginner quilting class. You are welcome to bring your machine - in fact, we prefer you to learn on your own machine. Be sure to bring your free-motion foot. Don't forget the plug, pedal, and bobbin! |
| Requirements: | You must have experience on a sewing machine. If you do not know how to use a sewing machine, sign up for our Make Friends with your Machine workshop. |

| Instructor Bio: | Catherine has been sewing for nearly her entire life, and quilting for a decade. She loves learning techniques of all types, from bag-making to embroidery to needle felting. Catherine loves inspiring people to pick up something new…and even better, finish their projects!
