Quilting 101: Learn to Quilt

Join us for an introduction to quilting workshop!
In this 1-day intensive, you'll create a lap quilt (34" x 51") and learn the basics of quilt construction from choosing fabrics to cutting using a rotary cutter, quilter's ruler, and mat. You'll learn to piece a quilt top, sandwich, and straight-line quilt your quilt and finish it with binding. We'll even discuss labeling your quilt to officially "sign" your work!

Morning: Quilting supplies, fabric selection & prep + fabric cutting || Assembling blocks & rows + sewing the quilt top
Afternoon: Basting the quilt & straight-line quilting, squaring up the quilt || Binding + making a label

By the end of the workshop, you'll have a cozy lap quilt to enjoy for many years!

Please arrive 15 minutes early to browse the fabric selection in shop. We'll discuss color theory, pattern, value, in class and you'll have time to shop during the first session. Anything purchased during class time will receive a 10% discount!

Fabric requirements:
For this quilt you will need the following:
- 3/4 yard of light fabric
- 3/4 yard of dark fabric
*If you want a single color background you'll need 1.5 yards of fabric

- Backing - 1.5 yards
- Binding 3/8 yards (you may have enough leftover fabric to make a scrappy binding)

You'll want to bring or buy your lunch - this is a long day so feel free to bring snacks and your own beverage.
