Join us for am afternoon of sewing up a loose-fitting unisex pajama pant pattern from Five out of Four Patterns that any level of sewist can make! Stitch these up in cotton or flannel in a variety of lengths - full pant, capri or shorts! From XXS - 5XL these are the perfect pajama pant for anyone in your family.

In the third of our capsule wardrobe workshops, we'll sew the Elodie dress from Closet Core - the perfect wrap dress for all four seasons! Over four 3-hour sessions, you'll take your measurements, make a muslin toile, and stitch up a long or short wrap dress, fitted specifically to your shape. Stitch it in linen, cotton or poplin for a perfect skirt for every season. All materials are available in the shop at a 10% discount.

In the second of our capsule wardrobe workshops, we'll sew the Fiore skirt from Closet Core - a great basic skirt to add to your wardrobe Over four 3-hour sessions, you'll take your measurements, make a muslin toile, and stitch up a wrap or button down skirt fitted specifically to your shape. Stitch it in linen, cotton or poplin for a perfect skirt for every season. All materials are available in the shop at a 10% discount.

Come learn the vibrant history of Sashiko while stitching your very own mini panel that can be turned into a wall hanging, coaster, or pincushion. The Japanese word sashiko (刺し子) translates to English as little stabs, a reference made to the simple running stitch employed by repeating or interlocking traditional Japanese geometric patterns, offering a vast creative canvas. We'll explore the ways sashiko can be incorporated into your stitching while working on a mini panel using traditional stitches. Class kit includes everything you need to create a beautiful Sashiko project including sashiko thread, 2 pre-printed sashiko fabric mini panels, 1 sashiko needle, 1 sashiko thimble, instructions to take home. Tools to bring or buy - a pair of small scissors or snips

In this workshop, you'll stitch up a 4" holiday motif using pre-printed fabric and embroidery floss. You'll learn backstitch, satin stitch and french knots and leave with a decorative holiday hoop you can hang on your tree or anywhere in your home. With these stitches under your belt, you'll be able to embellish projects or create hand-stitched creations!

Join us every 1st and 3rd Wednesday evening for an Open Sew. Bring a hand-stitching project, your knitting, a machine sewing project, or just come chat and be inspired by other stitchers. We will have 4 machines to use on a first-come-first-served basis. Please indicate in the notes if you plan to machine sew or hand sew. Space must be reserved and there is a limit of 10 sewists.

Class Policies


COVID-19 Policies + Protocols For In-Person Classes:

As of September 27, 2022

The city of Philadelphia no longer requires the use of masks indoors, however, masks are still strongly recommended in indoor public settings to help reduce transmission and keep Philadelphia at a low-risk level.

  • Proof of vaccination is not required to attend in-person classes and events.
  • Please sanitize your hands upon entry. Hand sanitizer is available at the door.
  • Practice social distancing.
  • Classes are limited to no more than 7 people, including the instructor.
  • Students will be provided their own set of tools unless indicated which are sanitized between every class session.

Attendance Agreements:

  • You acknowledge that crafting often involves the use of electrical equipment, irons, and sewing machines, as well as needles, scissors, and rotary cutters and that the use of these tools includes risks that can lead to injury. You agree to release and hold harmless Needles & Bolts, LLC its instructors, and employees from any and all claims and liability related to any accident that may arise as a result of your or your child's participation in classes, workshops, or programs. You agree to first aid and/or medical treatment, should the need arise.
  • Each person who is planning to attend a class must purchase a seat.
  • Please be on time. We cannot accept students after 15 minutes of the start time of class. If you are later than 15 minutes and are not allowed into class, we cannot offer you a store credit or refund for the missed class.

Cancellations + Rescheduling:

  • We require a 48-hour notice before the start of your class in order to receive a refund or store credit. Please note that we cannot offer a refund OR store credit if you are within the 48-hour time frame. If you need to cancel a class or switch the date and the 48-hour deadline has not passed, please email us at hello@needlesandbolts.com to do so and we are happy to help.
  • There are NO refunds or store credit given at any time for classes with out-of-town instructors and special guest instructors. Your seat may be transferred to a friend if you cannot attend.
